Team GIANTS

LPCL (Lathrop Premier Cricket League) a democratic club is presently collecting club member opinions and votes on the official GIANTS teams’ uniform colors. Even, though living under the shadow of SF GIANTS we know the base colors have to be orange and black. Lathrop Giants wants to stand out from SF Giants with addition of a different smaller color pallet within the jersey, not deviating away from the attraction of orange and black. LPCL officials want to narrow the choice down. So, soon an order could be placed with the manufacturer. LPCL is also very pleased that it has received good feedback to the colors that were placed as choices, now the question would be to narrow the choices down to one. All, thanks to our CFO Sadiq for coming up with a template that could be manipulated with so many color combination. Truly, LPCL is blessed with talents......

Would you like RED or WHITE?

Lathrop Cricket Club has been debating on using RED or WHITE balls during tournaments. However, after a friendly game with Lodi Cricket Club last weekend Saturday October 13, 2012; the decision was made easier for the Lathrop cricketers. Lathrop Lions had the opportunity to play with a water proof white ball, which was a wonderful experience. After further enquires, Lodi's cricket club equipment supplier was contacted. Mr Sachin Singh the owner operator of Cricket supplies out of Rancho Cordova California was very courteous and supplied the Lathrop Cricket club with four (4) free samples of white water proof balls. See picture below, $20 Kokabarro balls upper Left concern, light cream BDM lower left corner and two custom league balls that are made to order by Mr. Sachin. By the way League ball was used during the T20 match with Lodi Cricket Club. Hopefully, during our upcoming tournament the club members will get a chance to take these balls for a spin, get it! "SPIN". Enough with the pun, but we really appreciate Mr. Sachin Singh for supplying us with these four samples.

Our T20 Team is ready to play its very first twenty (20) over game with Lodi Cricket Club on Saturday October 13, 2012. Lodi is a very strong team, however we are very appreciative of Lodi and their principals for inviting us over for a friendly match. Hopefully, this by lateral relationship builds and creates opportunities in the future, where Lathrop Cricket Club could host a game with Lodi at the Mossdale Landing Community Park. Please check our facebook for game updates, follow us via twitter @LathropCricket for live score.

Solid family man who we value for his integrity

Lathrop Cricket Club is very pleased to support Mr. Dhaliwal for Lathrop Mayorship. We wish him lots of success and support his efforts. Please read the article that I found on IndiaWest about Sonny Dhaliwal....
clip
Sonny Dhaliwal
  • United StatesSonny Dhaliwal, a city councilman in Lathrop in San Joaquin County in Central California, has announced his candidacy for mayor of that city.
The Stockton-based American Punjabi Chamber of Commerce has endorsed his candidacy, Rex Dhatt, public relations officer of the APCOC, said.
Dhatt in a press release said Dhaliwal is a “solid family man who we value for his integrity." (His) vision for Lathrop’s growth encompasses the greater Stockton region. This makes him an exciting candidate for local business owners.”
Dhaliwal was first elected in 2006 and served as vice mayor from 2006-08. The Indian American was re-elected to the city council in 2010. The father of four children, he and his wife, Ruby, moved to Lathrop in 1996.
The Lathrop City Council recently asked the San Joaquin County grand jury to investigate current Mayor J. “Chaka” Santos, after an outside investigator submitted a report alleging Santos “made inappropriate personal comments” to an unidentified female city employee.
Santos, elected in 2010 to serve a two-year term, is up for reelection this fall. He has called the allegations “politically motivated.”

HEAT IS ON!

Can the teams battle their win against the Super 5 tournament Champions. With LPCL's (Lathrop Premier Cricket Leagues) first Super 5 tournament behind (took place on August 18th, 2012), teams are already looking forward to the future of competitive cricket under the LPCL banner for another chance to settle the score. Though, it can be called the agony of defeat or healthy rivalry; teams cannot wait to prove themselves in October to become the rightful winners of Lathrop OCTO Cricket Cup 2012. Will the Super 5 tournament Champions claim their win once again on OCTO or will there emerge a new line of Champions? Don’t miss out the excitement to our up coming event Lathrop OCTO Cricket Cup Championship 2012 to be held in October.

Olympics vs. Super 5

As our USA Olympic hopeful's are striving towards GOLD, Sliver and bronze and each moment is spent towards the pursuit of that dream. Our SUPER 5 TOURNAMENT hopeful's are dreaming of a win in the upcoming competition on August 18th, 2012. Where they could embrace the Champions trophy and be the first to claim their rights to a win. Though, this win may not be recognized on an international level in comparison to Olympics , but amongst their peers in this small localized Cricket family which knit's us in the bond of Cricket brotherhood, this dream of a win is more precious then GOLD. This is our first step towards a great future, this tradition each year will bring old and new hopeful's to the competition where everyone will have a chance to write their names in history of SUPER 5 and be recognized as Champions. Good Luck to all the hopeful's.....Let's play Cricket.

LLCC in 2025!

Our vision is to have a sound and tangible presence in the community. With a defined strategy and vision, LLCC (Lathrop Lions Cricket Club) in 2025 will have its own stadium. However, the goal may seem out of reach and unattainable at the present moment. LLCC is very optimistic that with a structured guideline, the principals from LLCC should be able to acquire this dream.

All dreams start from an idea, a blog, a vision and a time comes you find yourself standing in the pavilion overlooking at a beautiful stadium and suddenly you realize its 2025. We might have started small, but eventually LLCC will grow in a true Cricket club.

Directions to achieve our goal.

1. Alignment of Marketing Strategy
1A. Through media (youtube), print (craigslist), advertisements (banner, posters, post cards etc) and word of mouth (Making community aware of our presences)

2. Reconstruction/Update of web content
2A. Acquiring a domain
2B. Finding local business to advertise their product and service on our official website
2C. Advertising revenue will generate revenue for the club.

3. Finding investors (Final stage)
3A. Investment comes, when an organization can show value in its service. That can only be achieved if LLCC can become a powerhouse of advertisement.

4. Advertisement outlet:
4A. Local business product and services are advertised to the community on regular game and practice days.

5. Community outreach program:
5A. Creating events that would bring out the masses to watch cricket.
5B. Giving community intensives to watch cricket. Providing entertainment events and prizes. Giving away promotional items
5C. Conducting community clinics to teach the sport and bring awareness to the game.

6. Merchandise sales
6A. Once LLCC becomes an icon in the community, authentic LLCC merchandise sales and LLCC promotional items could be added to the mix to generate revenue.

These guidelines are being outlined to give LLCC a starting point. Overtime, these strategic guidelines will need to be enhanced, redefined and implemented to achieve the end result.

LLCC Quarterly Meeting May 2012

In order to stay competitive and under the lime light of the community it is ever so important to be visible in print media over the internet to attract more viewership and following.

LLCC (Lathrop Lions Cricket Club) understands with the ever changing tides in our economy it is getting harder to retain viewership and consistent following by print media alone. Even though being in the facebook, ipod, smart phone and information age, it is very important that the media content attracts patrons to your website; with exciting news, where followers become repeat accessory to your organization.

Either news comes from print, TV spots (Good Morning Sacramento) or new press releases it is all about “Bringing people to a robust, fast, easily accessible, users friendly website or facebook community sport page; that delivers content in an efficient manner” Samantha SVP., Marketing – LLCC.

During a quarterly meeting between the President/Founder of LLCC (Lathrop Lions Cricket Club) and Senior VP of Marketing, Ms. Samantha; new innovations were discussed that would launch LLCC to the community, bringing more viewership and visibility. There were several other issues that very brought to the forefront, pertaining to local businesses being involved, acquisition of sponsorships for the team and players. In conclusion, principals of LLCC’s main focus at the present time is to recruit, retain members to the club, acquire sponsorship, and bring awareness of Cricket in the Lathrop community.

WE ARE DIVERSIFIED

Our diversity is our strength! As more and more cricket leagues within United States are becoming sport centric; LLCC (Lathrop Lions Cricket Club) on the other hand is welcoming diversity with open arms. "Cricket needs to be shared with the world"; "We (LLCC) are proud of what we have achieved and have been very lucky in getting players from such diverse backgrounds" LLCC President/Founder Ocran A.

LLCC's present and future growth relies on one thing and one thing ONLY; diversification, sharing, teaching of the sport to players from backgrounds such as baseball, soccer, American football and other respected sports.  The secret to our success has been acceptance from these players the wiliness to try something new and they have embarrassed not only the sport. These players have become ambassadors for the sport; promoting cricket with a passion.  LIONS (LLCC) have a great future!

Rising Star for Lathrop Cricket Club

Each week Lathrop Cricket Club will introduce several players of the club and run a short story on them in our SPORTS TODAY blog.

Lathrop Cricket Club would like to introduce Mr. Mohammad Ali a native of Karachi Pakistan. Who is currently living in Manteca California. Mohammad started his career playing cricket at the age of 12 in Karachi Pakistan. Mohammad has played as a allrounder through out his school years. He was a Captain for his high school team. Lathrop Cricket Club is very excited to have Mr. Mohammad Ali also named as Mr. BOOM BOOM (A hard hitter of the cricket ball). LCC looks forward to learning from this expert all-rounder about the art, skill and form of Cricket.

SPORTS TODAY

This week in SPORTS TODAY our feature short story is profiling Mr. Ocran (President / Founder of Lathrop Cricket Club)

Ocran started playing Cricket at a very young age in Pakistan. From Galli (street/backyard) Cricket to playing for his high School (St Paul's English) and at local city level.  By trade Mr. Ocran is a fast bowler and can bat as well. However, he prefers bowling fast to medium pace and batting at 5th OR 6th position on a team. He consider himself a pace batsman not a heavy hard hitter of a ball, He leans more towards the strategic aspect of the game and likes to play skillful shots. He is currently executing his duties as the Founder and President of Lathrop Cricket Club. In the past he has led the formation of Livermore Cricket Club with a former friend, colleague from Livermore, California. He is very optimistic about the growth and expansion of cricket in Lathrop and surrounding cities.
